Hints for Raving Factory
Raving Factory is an adventure game for iOS in which you have to escape from your dear departed uncle’s old toy factory. The hints below will help with the game if you are having trouble. To display the hint, just click or touch the hint description. Touch it again to hide the hint, and note that only one hint can show at a time.
Hint 1: I have the code but I can’t get the file cabinet padlock open
Well, if you have the code – and you are confident that it is the correct code (hint – it starts with a number less than 20 and more than 15), then make sure that you are entering it correctly. The dial is broke up by markings of 5, and each mark is a single digit. But be sure that you are on the correct side of the number – for example, 12 is two marks to the right of 10, not to the left. This can get confusing as you rotate the dial to enter the number.Another thing to remember is that it is not necessary to pass zero each time to enter a number, but you can if you want to do so. And finally, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, you have to lift the finger off of the screen for the number to be registered as being entered – dialing up the three numbers without lifting your finger after each number will not work. The device uses the end of the touch to mark the dial position, and it says as much in the instructions, but this is easily overlooked in the rush to get that hard-earned new code working.Follow these tips and you should not have any problems. But if you do, just give us a shout and we will be glad to be of assistance. Now, back to the regularly scheduled adventure…
Hint 2: Jack has locked the gate and I can’t get out
Hint 3: I can’t get the front office door combination lock open
So far you are off to a good start in Raving Factory, but the first real challenge – getting the first door open – is causing you some problems. Well, sometimes it just happens to be the first challenge that catches you off guard. But what is an adventurer to do?Well, the good news is that you don’t have to guess at the combination. The bad news is that you do have to work for it – the combination is on a puzzle that is sitting on top of the speaker, unless you have already gotten it down. Play that, beat it, and you will soon put the issue of the door’s combination lock behind you. But if the sliding Egyptian tile puzzle is causing you problems, check out the hint on it.
Hint 4: I can’t solve the color match tile game
So, you’ve found a game that requires you to place small tiles on a board so that their end colors match up, but it just isn’t working. What is a daring adventurer to do?Well, the game really is all about placing the tiles to match up the color dots. And once you get a few tiles started, the rest of the game should come along pretty fast. To that end, here is a hint – the first tile in place:
So, in your exploration of Raving Factory, you have found a dark area. And the first thing an experienced adventurer thinks of is – hey, I could use a flashlight. But naturally there is not one merely lying out where you can find it. So, what can an adventurer do?Well, I will tell you this much – it is not on the first floor. And, it is not lying out in the open. But luckily its location is marked quite clearly, with a great big “X”…
Hint 6: The wood puzzle is just not coming together
Excellent – you have made it upstairs, and found a big pile of wood. But now you have to assemble that wood into a large plank, no doubt for some other nefarious use. And building the plank is simple enough – drag the wood piece into position on a plank outline, and double tap to rotate the piece if required. When the piece is in position it will lock in place. But, despite the best effort, the pieces are just not fitting into place. What is a hard adventurer to do with a bunch of wood pieces that don’t fit together?Well, when working this type of puzzle that gives positive feedback (locking in place) when correct, it might be best to start with one piece and test fit it until it fits. But, since you have already proven to be a worthy explorer to get this far, let me show you the correct position for one of the pieces. Given this piece’s position on the board, it should allow the others to fall in place fairly quickly. The hint:
Hint 7: I can’t get past the big hole in the floor
Good, congrats on making it past the first floor. But now there is a large hole in the floor, and it is too wide to jump. What can a brave adventurer do?Well, you need to find something to lay over the hole in order to create a makeshift bridge. And, as things tend to happen in adventure games, there is a pile of wood two rooms over to the left. But first you have to assemble the wood and make a large plank, perfect for bridge making. But as for building the plank, that is different hint…
Hint 8: The fortune cookie is stuck in the cage and I can’t reach it
So far so good – you have made it to the attic, but there is a fortune cookie trapped in a small cage and a locked door that needs to be opened. How can I open the fortune cookie?Well, first of all, let me state this – you really don’t need to get the fortune cookie in order to open the door. In fact, what you need to get the fortune cookie – something long and thin enough to fit between the bars of the tiny cage – is actually in the room beyond. So, instead, focus on the door at this time. For example, check out that metal plate with the suspicious hole in the middle of it…When you get back to the fortune cookie, here’s a hint on what you need: You can use one in garden, and brick layers use them too…
Hint 9: I can’t get the key out of the hole
So, you have a key stuck in a hole in the floor, but you can’t seem to get it out. And you are pretty sure that you would find such an item as a key handy in an old abandoned factory that you happen to be trapped in.Well, the answer is yes, you would find a key handy in Raving Factory. But the hole is too deep to reach by hand, so you need something to reach in the hole and fish the key out. Hmm, fish it out – perfect. You need to go fishing for the key. Let’s see, to go fishing you need a string and something that will attract the fish. The key is made of metal, so what will attract metal?…
Hint 10: I Need a Valve Puzzle Solution
You’ve made it far into the game, but now a valve puzzle stands in your way. The puzzle consists of six valves that must be turned to a certain position in order to cut off coolant flow to the big machine. But you don’t have a clue as to how to set the valves, and there are just too many possiblities to guess. What is a resourceful adventurer to do?Well, you could indeed try random valve settings, but that would take just too long. Instead, let’s try a shortuct – did you happen to find an index card lying in the same room as the valve puzzle? Well, a blank index card is not going to be of much use, so we probably need to do something with it. Let’s see, you can print on index cards… Hmm, did you happen to see anything that might print on a typical index card? Here’s a hint – tempus fugit…
Hint 11: The Marble Jump Puzzle Leaves Too Many Playing Pieces
Just when things were working out great, you find this marble puzzle on a desk in the shape of a cross ( or a plus sign, if you prefer). The object of the game is to jump over other pieces, removing them as you do so. If you can jump them all and leave only one, then a numbered code (no doubt a combination) is revealed. But when you play, just too many pieces are being left on the board. What is a “puzzled” adventurer to do?Well, there are several solutions to this puzzle, but it can be challenging. One thing to remember while playing the game is to work the marbles away from the edges and towards the center. This gives the greatest chance of the marbles being able to interact and jump each other. But sometimes even the greatest of strategies just does not work out as planned, and you are left with two many marbles to get the code. To that end, here is one possible solution, but it does work:
31-33, 18-30, 33-25,
6-18, 13-11, 27-13,
10-12, 13-11, 8-10,
1-9, 16-4, 3-1,
1-9, 28-16, 21-23,
7-21, 24-22, 21-23,
10-12,12-26,26-24,
24-22, 22-8, 8-10,
17-19, 5-17, 16-18, and 19-17 for the win!
Hint 12: The Rotating Pipe Puzzle
So, you have found a puzzle that consists of rotating pipe pieces. Sounds simple, but there is a catch – when you rotate a given pipe, everything in the corresponding row and column rotates as well. Once the pipes are connected the path is complete to get a key, but so far the solution is just not happening. How can a brave adventurer solve this puzzle?Well, like other puzzles in Raving Factory there are multiple solutions. The key (so to speak) is to plan ahead for each rotation and try to “work” the pipes down into a corner. Also, pay attention to how a piece of pipe is going to rotate in regards to its neighbors. But if that fails, there is at least one quick and easy solution. Note the image below, and the numbered locations. Reset the puzzle (or exit and go back into it), and follow the instructions in the order listed.
1. Touch location one three times.2. Touch location two three times.3. Touch location three three times.
Hint 13: The Attic Dial Puzzle Doesn’t Add Up
So, you have found a puzzle in the corner of the attic, and the instructions say that every row, column, and diagonal must add up to 15. To set the numbers, you have to rotate nine dials around to a given selection. But a number cannot be used more than once. How do you solve this puzzle?Well, there are many different solutions for this puzzle, and the key is to look ahead at the rows and columns when setting a number. But to help get the ball rolling, here is the first row of dials from the solved puzzle:
Hint 14: The Trunk Puzzle Can’t Be Solved
You have been doing great, tackled everything in your path, and made it to the point that you find a large trunk. But the lock on the trunk is a sliding tile puzzle where you have to free up a tile with a key. But you can’t solve the puzzle…Well, I have to admit – this one is challenging. But it can be solved, and there are several ways of doing it. One strategy that works for me is to leave the long blocks alone until the end end and focus on getting the single blocks behind the large one. Then move the large block forward as you drop the long blocks behind it from above. Continue this, clearing out the blocks to the top to leave a path for the large one, and soon the large one (with the key) can move forward to the exit.
But, if you really can’t figure it out, here is a step by step solution for the game. This is just one solution, but it will work.

Hint 15: I Can’t Solve the Fusebox
So, you have found the fusebox, found the fuses, and tried to make it all work. But there are simply too many combinations to guess. So, how can I solve the fusebox?Well, the answer to the fuse locations is actually given to you as a result of another puzzle. Have you beaten the blocks yet? If so, take note of the skulls that appear, their locations and background colors. Notice how they match the fuses? I think they match for a reason…
Hint 16: Where is the piano music?
So far so good, you have braved Raving Factory and explored down to the basement stairs. And in doing so, you found a piano keyboard on a puzzle. But unfortunately you don’t have any piano music to play, and there are just too many combinations to guess. What is a bold adventurer to do?Well, we could call the music to the match puzzle – which has the piano keyboard – a small fortune to those who need it. And where can you find a fortune? I’ll give you a hint – you can also find them in most Chinese Restaurants….As a note, the keys shown on the keyboard are standard piano keys, and they go in this order (ignoring the minor keys): C-D-E-F-G-A-B
Hint 17: I Can’t Get the Second Attic Door Open
So far so good – you have explored the factory, and even made it to the attic. But now there is a locked door standing between you and whatever else there is beyond that room, and you don’t have a key. What is a bold adventurer to do?Well, if you look around that room, you will find a hole in the wall on a metal plate. This is out of the ordinary, so it might have something to do with the door lock. All you need is something to poke in the hole and maybe it will trigger an action. But what is that something?Let’s think back. Did you find anything that might be considered edible? All you need to do now is to find something to feed it to, and you will probably have what you need to tackle that locked door…
Hint 18: The Blue Key Is Bent Out Of Shape
Great news – you have now in your possession one blue key, and no doubt it will open doors for you that are otherwise closed(literally). But there is a problem – the key is bent out of shape, no doubt too far to fit into a lock. This key needs to be fixed.Luckily there is a perfect device for straightening bent keys. All you have to do is to go to the first floor and look around for a big machine made specifically to flatten things…. It’s like it was made for the job…
Hint 19: I Can’t Get the Elevator To Work
Elevators are wonderful things – they take us up in the world, and deliver us gently to the ground when we need it. But unfortunately the elevator in Raving Factory isn’t going to do either one until it is fixed. But there is not a problem with the elevator – there are two of them. One, it needs power for the motor to turn. And two, the gears are missing for the elevator motor. You need to find and fix the gears on the elevator motor as well as replace the fuses in the fusebox. But each of those tasks are a story on their own…
Hint 20: I Can’t Get The Factory Floor Door Open
So far, so good – you have found you way into the factory, and explored some of the immediate area. But there is a door locked on the factory floor, and you can’t get it open. What is a brave adventurer to do?Well, I think you need a key for that locked door. But naturally, this being an adventure game, you don’t have one. So you just need to go find one. Where, you ask? I’ll answer that question with a question – Where are you when the lights go out?
Hint 21: I can’t solve the Egyptian Tile Puzzle
So, you found the Egyptian sliding tile puzzle, but can’t figure out how to solve it? Well, knowing what order to work the puzzle may be just the key you need to finish it.The tiles should progress from darker at the top to lighter at the bottom. Also, pay attention to vertical lines and the symbols themselves. Once you get a pattern started, the rest should fall into place fairly quickly. Just to help get you started, below is the top row of the puzzle as it should appear in its solved state.
But if you really can’t solve the puzzle, I don’t want you to be stuck in the first room of the game forever. So, let me give you a golden ticket out of the room. The puzzle, once solved, gives you the combination for the locked door. That combination is….
The combination to the door is 35-25-55.
Hint 22: I Can’t Use The Fusebox
So far so good – you have gotten into the factory, and found a fusebox. But when you try to use it, all you get is a picture of fuses and nothing happens. How can I get into the fusebox?Well, the fuse pictures that show are a hint that you need to have the fuses before you can access the fusebox. Now, the next questions is probably going to be, “Where can I find the fuses?” Now, that will require a little work. Literally – have you find anything that might help you clean up a mess? Like a shovel, perhaps? When you do find it, use it in a place that is too hard to clean up by hand. The result will probably be helpful.
Hint 23: The Block Game Has Me Stumped
So far so good. You have found your way into the factory, and discovered a shelf holding a game based on blocks. But the block puzzle is turning out to be too, well, puzzling.Well, first let’s make sure you understand the puzzle. The goal is to arrange all of the blocks back into the correct sequence. IN order to do this, you have two types of clues – a white marble and a black marble.A white marble means that the right color block is in place, but it is the wrong block. For example, the “G” and “K” blocks are both red. But if the “G” block was in the “K” correct location, you would find a white marble pop up on the left side of the puzzle.A black marble on the right of the puzzle means that the correct block (color and everything) is in the correct location. Get enough of these and you beat the puzzle. As for solving the puzzle, there are many techniques to use to do this. The easiest is to punch around until you get a white marble (right color, wrong block), and then switch out the same colored blocks until you get a black marble. Then go on to the next location.
But if you really want a hint, then here goes – Each row of the puzzle will be a unique color with no repeats. That is, only one of each color per row. Of course, you don’t need this information to solve the puzzle, but if you are having trouble this will probably help.
And finally, if it STILL has you stumped, here is the first row of blocks solved. From here it should fall into place fairly quickly.
Hint 24: There is something stuck on top of the speaker
Well, the problem is that the stick is flat, and the item on the speaker is on top of it, away from the edge. You need to find something to stick in the big stick, right close to the edge where the crack is. With a protruding edge, the stick can reach over the top and knock down whatever it is on top of the speaker. Of course, how you use said item is now up to the user… Good Luck!
