Raving Manor is an adventure game for iOS devices that puts you in an abandoned manor, with only your wits to escape. In order to help with your quest, the hints below may be the difference between escaping or perishing within the haunted manor. To see the hint, click or touch the hint title. So, you have braved the halls of Raving Manor, and sought to find a way to escape with everything intact. but you seem to be stuck, with nothing left to do. Of course, there is one place left that you may not have visited yet, and that is… the tunnels!Apparently the Good Doctor was using cadavers from the nearby graveyard as unwilling test subjects, and so the tunnels were made. Now you will need to enter the tunnels to complete your escape. Of course, you can’t just leave a tunnel to the graveyard lying about in polite company, so the Good Doctor hid it behind something hanging on the wall in the basement. Of course, he didn’t completely cover his tracks because there is a pile of rocks from the tunnel lying in the room as well… Good Luck!

Hint 2: Where Can I Find The Shovel?
So, you have to the conclusion that you may need a shovel to get any farther in the game. But you don’t know where the shovel is. The good news is that the shovel is in plain sight, but under a lot of soot. The fireplace is full of the stuff, but maybe if you find and use the bellows on the fireplace it will blow enough residue away so that you can see the shovel. Apparently the shovel broke while being used in the fireplace, and it was just left there. Lucky you.What, this shovel is broken? Well, you will just have to find some way of fixing it. You wouldn’t want it too easy, now would you?

Hint 3: How do I clear the steps of debris?
The second floor of Raving Manor awaits you, but the debris on the steps is stopping you from going any farther. What can you do?Well, a shovel would be really handy to clear off the steps from the broken ceiling bits. In your explorations you may have come across a broken shovel. In the music room you will find a rusty music stand that has a perfectly good shaft. Use the music stand with the shovel, and together they makea fine shovel. Use the shovel with the debris, and Viola! clean (enough) steps for your use.Now go forth and see what Raving Manor has to present you with on the second floor.

Hint 4: How do I decode the messages on the wall?
Okay, so you are strolling about a haunted manor, minding your business and trying to escape alive, when suddenly you happen upon these annoying messages on the wall. What’s even worse, they appear to be written in some kind of code. What is an adventurer to do without his (or her) trusty pocket Univac handy?A closer examination of the codes may show that the codes are in a pattern of a linear nature. That is, the letters are in the same sequence, just with a different offset. For example, consider the possible sequence below:A u

So in the above example, the second column letters have an offset of 7 (g = a). Following the code above, “wiif” would spell “COOL” (reading from second column to first). So the answer would be a (somewhat) simple solution of adjusting the offset (note the wraparound) and trying it until it made sense. Of course, since Raving Manor is evil incarnate, no doubt each message will have its own offset position. But that only makes it fun. Another thing to note – the offset position shown above may or may note be a solution to one of the messages.
By trial and error you should be able to decode which offset goes with which wall saying. But as a potential shortcut to this method, I can offer one word, interestingly enough found scribbled on the horribly occupied desk of the good doctor. That word is, “gloxdt”.

Hint 5: Where can I find the crowbar?
So, you have been exploring an abandoned haunted manor by yourself, trying to escape with your life intact, and you come to the conclusion that having a standard-issue adventure-grade crowbar would be just what you needed.”Where could you find just such a handy gadget”, you wonder outloud. Since nobody answers (you are alone, after all), you try to think back about every thing that you have seen in the manor.Suddenly a light goes off in your head, and you remember a room with overgrown trees. “If I had something to cut away the growth, I might could see what was in the room”, you say outloud with a snap of the fingers.
Again, since you are alone, you are left to your own devices to find the crowbar. Although, I do have to tell you, this habit of hanging out in haunted manors and talking to yourself is starting to scare me.

Hint 6: Where do I find the knitting needle?
Things get scattered about a manor when the supernatural visits, no doubt. But as to why would anyone carry with them a knitting needle is rather questionable, especially if running could possibly be in their immediate future. Nonetheless, it appeared to have worked out that way, and history just might repeat itself.The tub in the Master Bath is filled with a dark red liquid that resembles blood. This stuff could hide about anything, including a knitting needle that was dropped there when someone was, well, scared by something in the water while packing it around for more nefarious reasons.Of course, I would not suggest shoving a bare hand into the bloody water to look for whatever you could dredge up. That would be uncivilized and potentially dangerous. No, you would probably need a little protection from whatever that is in the tub.

Hint 7: Where can I find the newspaper?
A newspaper can be quite handy on an adventure if you know how to use it. Not only can it inform and entertain, it can also be folded, spindled, and sadly enough even mutilated into something perfect for getting you out of a jam. Unfortunately, you have to have one first.In Raving Manor B.D. (Before Death), the good Doctor would often make a habit of reading the paper in the dining room and carrying it through the pantry. Sometimes it was left in the pantry as he would rifle through the cabinets in search of a small snack. As luck would have it, apparently one time it was put in the pantry cabinet by mistake, and it is still lying there.Of course, such an accident is understood given the terrible news on the front page. The house was no doubt in quite a disarray at the time. And it has only gotten worse ever since.

Hint 8: How do I open the basement door?
Apparently someone has made a hasty retreat, and headed down for the basement. They locked the door behind them, and in the rush left the key in the lock. Luckily for you the basement door still has the key in the lock. Unfortunately, this also means that the key has to be removed from the other side. How would you do that?Well, the keyhole would allow you to poke the key out, but you need something for it to fall on when it hits the ground on the other side. Then you could possibly pull back said something from under the door to retrieve the key. You would need something flat and wide that you could slide under the door.As for poking the key out through the keyhole, you will need something a bit long, skinny, and pointed. Surely there is something like that lying about the manor. Well, lying about is probably not the correct term…

Hint 9: What’s this about a mouse?
So, you have heard, read, thought, imagined or just really wanted to have a mouse in Raving Manor that could provide a little much needed company and/or assistance. As it just so happens, there is indeed a little rodent running about, and what a handy litle pet he would make. But the question is, where can you find him?Well, the best place to look for a mouse in a haunted manor is probably a mouse hole. And as luck would have it, there is exactly just such a hole in one of the rooms. When you find it, you see why you may have been getting those “being watched” feelings.So, now that you know where the little guy is, how do you get him? It could be said that most mice like cheese, and our friend is no exception. Of course, you just can’t throw the cheese out and get the jump on him – he is too smart for that. (After all, he has been living well in Raving Manor.) Instead you could consider putting the cheese in something clear that could fool the mouse into thinking that the coast was clear, but in reality it is a one way trip.
Now, where have you seen something clear? Made of glass, maybe?

Hint 10: What do I do with the mouse?
So, you have figured out a way to catch a mouse (how, of course, being a different hint), and now you don’t know what to do with it. You may or may not know that some mice (at least our little friend) are attracted to shiny metallic bits of stuff. This is especially true if such things are already in something that resembles a mouse hole.Again, as luck would have it, there is just such a shiny metallic bit equipped hole in Raving Manor. Once you find it, this might make a great place to try using your newfound pet Of course, don’t expect too much loyalty from your little mouse friend – you are, after all, out of cheese.

Hint 11: What do I do with the wax cylinder?
So, you have found a wax cylinder that apparently the doctor had in his possession, and you are not sure what to do with it. Given the era of the events at Raving Manor, wax cylinders were not uncommon for audio recordings. The recordings could be played back using a gramophone, a device that could be described as a wind up record player.In your exploration of the Manor you probably have come across a gramophone. So now all you have to do is to dance over to it and play the recording. Of course, I would wager that it is not a very well produced recording, since the doctor may have been a bit rushed at the time, definitely under a bit of stress. You could even say that he was sick to death, perhaps…

Hint 12: How do I get past the wooden barricade on the second floor?
So, through cunning and effort you have made it to the second floor, only to find a wooden barricade that stops you from going on to the third. Nobody said that Raving Manor was going to be easy, but it could give you a few breaks – probably not going to happen.The barricade is made of wood, so maybe something that could cut through the wood might give you a chance to use leverage against the boards and pull them off, clearing the passage. Well, you are in luck, since the good doctor may have had a surgical saw being used in his, ahem, work. With a little luck you can find it and cut the boards.Of course, the question remains, do you want to remove the barricade? Apparently someone went through a lot of effort to put it up, only to have you just rip it down. Wouldn’t it be nice if you had the luxury of a choice?

Hint 13: How do I Retrieve The Ball In The Web?
So, in your explorations of a haunted manor you find yourself staring up at a ball of some kind stuck in a web. And the manor’s ceilings are just too high to allow you reach the web. Just what is a brave adventurer to do?Well, since you cannot reach the web, you have two choices. You can either go to the web, or bring the web closer to you (the spider web, not the online kind!). Since knocking the ceiling down to bring the web to you is not a strong option at the moment, you will obviously have to go to the web. While you could try to find some stilts to make you taller, it might be easier to find something to extend your reach. Now, where have you found something that could extend your reach so that you could perhaps swing around and knock down the web? Maybe playing a game for a moment will take your mind off of your troubles and let you figure this one out…

Hint 14: How do I get past the gaping hole on the second floor?
While Raving Manor was built using quality materials (and no doubt a lot of the Good Doctor’s money), the neglect over the many years has left the Manor in a poor state of disrepair. Right now, this means that the West Hall on the second floor has broken away, leaving a gaping hole in its place and blocking access to the rooms beyond. How do you get past this obstacle?Well, you are going to need something to bridge the gap. Hey, did you take down the wooden barricade at the stair landing behind you? You could possibly use the leftover wood to cover it. Now, doesn’t that look solid. Well, no, since the warped wood planks are too slippery on the dusty, dirty floor to trust as you try to walk across them on the uneven floor. The nails are still in the boards from where you pulled them off the wall. Maybe if you had something to pound them into place?

Hint 15: What do I do with the Web Ball?
Here you are, a proud adventurer, packing around a really cool silken web ball that oh so well shows off your adventuring skills. But after the novelty wears off, you begin to wonder about the big picture in life, such as how big is the universe, why are we here, and just what does this web ball do? Well, the sad news is that I don’t have a really answer for the first two questions ( I suspect the answer to the second one is something about adventuring, but I could be wrong), but I can help you with the third one. The web ball has a Zen like existence (seems to be the theme for this hint) – it exists for what it is, and does nothing by itself. Translated – you have to rip it open.Have you tried cutting it open with the saw (assuming you have such a device handy – you had it at one time to get this far). If you do, let me save you a step – the fine teeth will get tangled in the silken material and not cut it. No, what you need is something coarse and sharp to open the ball with. In your quest for escape, have you ran across anything so stated? I would give you more of a hint here, but I can’t bear to spoil the surprise.

Hint 16: How can I get past the block wall?
The block wall in the basement blocks access to a sealed room. To get in the room, you must find a way to break through the block wall. Obviously this is going to take some serious brute force. Have you found the hammer yet? Good if you have, but it won’t work. You will need a bigger version.Of course, it might be good to pause and consider why it was sealed up before you go barging in. On second thought, the house is keeping you here against your will, so go ahead and bust something.

Hint 17: How do I get through the locked door in the basement?
Way to go – you got through the basement door, and now you have yet another door blocking your progress. The door appears to be locked, and it is solid enough to stop you from forcing it open otherwise. So, how do you get it open? Well, this one is simple – the locked door in the basement storage room needs a key.There you go, nice and short. I bet you thought I was to going to say that you needed a chainsaw, dynamite, or something else. You don’t – not this time, anyways. Of course, this particular key may be a bit harder to get, but I think you will find it in a safe place.

Hint 18: What’s this about a hammer?
Hammers. There are wonderful devices, so simple in their contruction, yet so effective at what they do. And what would an adventure be without having one handy at your disposal.Well, Raving Manor does indeed have a hammer stashed somewhere. But it is not just lying about – it is put up for safe keeping. Story has it that the good doctor, fearful for the life of his maddening wife (and his own, no doubt) hid all of the items that could have been used to inflict bodily harm. A few he missed, but the hammer he did in fact manage to stow away. Where, you ask? Well, have you ran across a big locked trunk? Now you know where. As to the how of the matter, that remains to be discovered…

Hint 19: How do I open the trunk?
So you happen upon a trunk in your merry little quest to escape alive, and as things usually go in a haunted manor adventure game, the trunk is locked. Worse yet, the trunk is locked with a four digit code that goes up to 50 digits each. The total amount of possible combinations for the correct code is, well, let’s just say you aren’t getting any younger, and Raving Manor is already getting a bit crowded with the living-impaired.Since random number guessing does not seem to be a plausible solution, you decide to try another strategy. As you think back to what you have seen in the manor, several wall sayings have been on the wall. One in particular will be helpful with this task. The saying reads, “Yb ylia – qbii qeb qorkh ql ‘lmbk’”. There, that solves it.Well, we could leave it there, but since we would rather see you escape and live to buy our next adventure game, let’s take a look at that code.

Be bold – tell the trunk to “open”
Okay, so we need to tell the trunk to “OPEN”. But how can you do that? Well, if you notice, the combination on the trunk is unique in that the numbers go to 26, not 0-9 as you would expect. And what else goes to 26? The English alphabet. So, if we assign 1=A, 2=B, etc. we should be able to dial up the word “OPEN” on the trunk lock.

Hint 20: How do I open the safe?
So, you have come to the conclusion that you need to get the safe open. Well, I guess it can be said that the code to get it open is a secret. Aha!There is a wall saying that states “Bn htrgtih pgt ztei xc bn dlc ldgas”. Decoded (okay, so I gave you one), this says, “My secrets are kept in my own world”. Now, where in the game have you found a something that could be called a world? If you have not found the hammer yet, then chances are you have not found anything that could be described this way (trust me).If you have found something that could be described as a world, then apparently the secret is kept inside. You can examine it, but I would bet that there doesn’t appear to be any openings. So, what is an adventurer to do? Did I ask you earlier if you had found something handy to swing around and smash things?

Hint 21: How do I light the lamp?
So, you have found a lamp in your search of Raving Manor. Hey, that could come in really handy in, say, a dark place. But there is a problem, you need to get it working. Of course, after all you didn’t expect Raving Manor to give up a perfectly good lamp, did you?The first thing a lamp is going to need is some fuel. If I remember correctly, there is a big silver thing somewhere in the Manor that holds fuel – that’s right, a big fuel tank (how handy!). The tank is too big to lift up and pour fuel it into the lamp, and holding the lamp over the fuel tank really doesn’t improve the situation. So, what you need to do is to find something to help you fill up the lamp with fuel. Something that could be used to siphon fuel from the tank to the lamp would be perfect. Of course, you need have the lamp in your possession before this would work.After you get the lamp full of fuel, you need to find something to start it burning. Let me think, what would you use to light a lamp? I bet you are ahead of me on this, but yes there are matches somewhere in Raving Manor. You need to use these to light the lamp, but it won’t work until after the lamp has some fuel to burn. As far as running out of fuel, don’t worry. The lamp has a large reserve once full, and no doubt you don’t want to stick Raving Manor around for forever… I hope.

Hint 22: How do I get past the metal gate in the tunnel?
You were going strong in your quest to escape Raving Manor with your life, and you found a really cool but creepy tunnel that takes you under the graveyard. But suddenly you happen upon a metal gate right in the middle of the tunnel, and further progress is blocked. What is a daring adventurer to do?Well, first of all, let’s get this straight. You are in a tunnel leading from a haunted manor to a path under a graveyard, and you want to go further? Well, “daring adventurer” must be a good title for you indeed. Since you are so daring, I’ll give you the straight answer – you get past the tunnel gate by using the red key. There, no problem.Wait, do you not have a red key? Well, that could be a problem. In order to find the key of interest, you will have to fish around for it. Now, where would be a good place to go fishing in a haunted manor game with a tunnel. Did you by chance happen upon a place described more or less as an easy place to drop something down in? That could be a great place to practice a little quality fishing time
Now, what do you fish with? Nothing really unusual there…

Hint 23: I believe I have done everything in the game but still stuck
So, you have read the other hints here, have explored all of the locations, gotten all of the items, and you just can’t seem to finish the game. What is an intrepid adventurer to do in order to escape from a haunted manor?Well, the clue lies in this wall saying:Vkh pxvw eh uhxqlwhg wr hqg wkh pdgqhvv
Once translated, this clue defines the actions required for the endgame to take place. The picture below is another hint…

I can’t seem to get the key. I tried using the fishhook with the large crack,but it says that “You can’t find way to use the fishhook with that”.Any
hints?
Well,the fishhook itself is not long enough to reach into the crack. Try using something with the fishhook first, if you haven’t already. Do you have anything handy that you could tie to the fishhook?

Great job! The blocked tunnel and wood – If you are talking about the tunnel blocked with all of the wooden casket pieces, then let me give you a hint – you can’t get past it. But there was something important lying on the ground in that room… No doubt it was the tool that the Good Doctor was using to do the smashing.
I already smashed the bricks and got into The room.I thought that the locket was behind all of the wood, so really all I need is the locket.
