First consumer fuel cell power packs hit market

The long awaited first fuel cells to hit the market for consumer use is almost here.  Medis is offering their Power Pack online now, and it should be in retail stores very soon.  The Power Pack comes with a fuel cell and adapters for your common electronics.  The fuel cell run time will vary depending on use, but expect 30 hours of cell phone talking, or around 60-80 hours of MP3 use.

The starter kits containing the cell, housing, and connectors cost $30, Once the recyclable fuel cell is depleted, it is disposed of and a replacement pak is required, which will cost $20.  Not the most cost effective method of powering your gear on an everyday basis, but on a trip or out camping it could prove to be quite valuable.
