Olympus Creates 360 Degree Lens

Olympus Japan has developed a lens that can take a shot of the whole room or environment.  The lens photographs 360 degrees from the origin of the camera, and gives 180 degrees of view along the vertical axis.  That is, you could spin completely around in the room and look 180 degrees up and down while doing it, all from a single shot.

The lens (and the camera to go with it ) would be a great tool for photographers, and it would make creating a browseable  panoramic image a piece of cake (no more spinning in place and stitching afterwards ).  No word yet on pricing and availability.
