SoulArc gives skateboarding the surfing edge

Can the simple skateboard be improved upon?  Designers (and college students) Mitch Mulder and Salvaore Vilardi think so, and to show it they present the SoulArc.

The SoulArc is a unique design that attempts to recreate the feeling of surfing on a skateboard.  The board is constructed with a leaf spring like device underneath the rigid skateboard platform, and this allows the rider to "dig in" on turns and throw energy into the ride.

The board was recently shown to the public at the Action Sports Retail Show in San Diego, but the price and availability is yet to be determined.
