12 Seconds is like Twitter for video

If you crossed the social network Twitter with video, chances are you would end up with something like 12 Seconds, the new microvideoblogging (yes, that is now a word) service. The concept of 12 seconds is that you post a video journal entry, but you only have 12 seconds to speak your part.  This keeps the information on track, and the viewer knows that they only have 12 second to lose by watching the entry.

The service is in its infancy at the moment, and I do not know if it will find its mark in the online world. but so far I am intrigued with the ideal.  There is a lot of visual information that can be conveyed in 12 seconds, assuming that it is used for good and not evil. (For example, there is one male poster who insists on doing nude updates).

Currently the service is by invitation only, but you can check it out and even request an invite by going to the 12 seconds website. With the sudden rash of web cam equipped netbooks on the market this could prove to be interesting.  But I would suggest that you approach it cautiously, since web cams can catch people at their less than perfect moments, particularly with a morning update.  Be afraid, man, be very afraid.
