The device attaches to your phone and is designed to show you where the sound is coming from right on your screen.
The Soundcam Go Acoustic Camera utilizes an array of 72 directional microphones to pinpoint the sounds, and it feeds this collected audio data into an app running on your phone to create an overlay on the live image. You can even fine tune the audio range to pick out certain sources in an otherwise noisy environment. The uses for this kind of capability could be a real boon in some applications. Imagine taking out your camera and instantly pinpointing where a strange sound is coming from in your car’s engine.
Weird sound in your house? Know exactly what the source is in a few seconds. Hear a sound in the woods, a bird in a tree, or a frog croaking? You can spot it every time using your phone and this device. Or how about a finding a leak in a tire tube or inflatable bed? There are many possible uses for this kind of capability in mechanics, engineering, nature, and more.
