Greg Chaffins BANDIT is a fully functioning computer that you can hold in your hands, and it is one of the more unique portable computers on the market. The keyboard is split between the screen, and this actually looks like it would serve to set focus on the screen. Input on the device is based on a chording system, where simultaneous keystrokes produce full commands. This allows for quick code entry.
The BANDIT doesn’t run on a regular operating system. Instead ColorForth is there to run the code and create the output in a single fluid motion. Without the operating system overhead, turning on the machine gets you right into the heart of the device, ready to perform for your needs. The system retains its state so it will be right where you left it. Built in editors handle things such as music, graphics, and text placement, letting you get right to the job at hand. If larger output is needed you can hook it up to a standard HDMI monitor.
The BANDIT runs on a 16gb SD Card, and is available in three different colors. The unit ships with a touch stylus, programming guide, and even a booklet on now to make a game on the device. The BANDIT is up for preorder, and sells for $170.
