Bailey Blade is a Beautiful DIY Supercar

BailyBlade_061708

The Bailey Blade is a gorgeous vehicle, sporting a 5.8L V8 engine that produces 500hp @ 6000rpm and 490 lb-ft of torque, crammed into a 2200-lb frame. The Blade would fit in any world car lineup, but the interesting thing about the vehicle is its construction – the car was basically a DIY project from a man that believed in the capabilities of the average joe (provided they have a little cad/cam capability).

The video (after the jump) shows part of the process in designing the vehicle.  Makes me want to clear out space in the garage and start building!  [more]

Lumeneo Smera is a Thin Battery Powered Car

Lumeneo_Smera_two_seater

Thin is definitely in when it comes to a lot of technology, including computer notebooks, but a thin automobile is a rather new ideal.  The Lumeneo Smera is definitely thin, being only three feet wide and eight feet long.  But the slim vehicle is not a lightweight when it comes to performance, topping out at 80 mph and reaching over 90 miles on a single charge.

The inline two seater uses the same lithium ion technology as today's laptops and cameras, and it charges in a few hours. The alternative energy vehicle uses two electric motors, one for each axle, so travel is also rather quiet.

The green Smera is planned to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, but the price at $31,000 to $46,000 may put it out of its practical market.  However, when pricing comes out of the stratosphere (pricing in my opinion should compete with existing vehicles for the given market to be practical), many errands could be ran by just such a vehicle and save a lot of expense for the owner. Not to mention the space in the garage that it could save.

Rocketcar Is Shiny Fun

rocketcar_061008

Baron Margo wanted what many of us have wanted at some point, a rocket car.  But, unlike many of us, he built one. Or at least one that looks the part.  The sleek bullet shaped vehicle features a huge rocket exhaust area with flashing lights and spinning prop(great for tailgaters), all mechanical controls, mechanical dials, and an almost anachronistic feel (are I say *almost* Steampunk*).  No doubt it is a fun ride.

Monster Cars Are Taking Over Russia

Monstercar_060508

Monster Cars are roaming the streets!  At least they are in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, where dragon and Alien inspired vehicles are becoming quite popular among the younger crowd.  All I can say is, this is cool.  Of course, they are probably serious ticket magnets, but there would be no problem finding it in a parking lot – just look for the crowd.
