Cellphone Transforms Into Headphones

LG held its Design the Future competition, and one of the most interesting designs was a cellphone that goes from pocket phone to headphones by simple unfolding it.  Imagine, no more fumbling around with the headphone cables when you want to listen to some tunage or have a comfortable private conversation on the phone.

I can't find the specifics as to what the expected audio response is supposed to be, but from the concept it appears to pack a pretty nice set of audio drivers.  Of course,  this is indeed a concept, so there are things to be worked out before it makes its way to production (if ever).  However, I do have to wonder if those of us that could be classified as capitulum gifted (yes, I have a big head – more ways than one at times) could actually wear the device.  There looks to be an adjustable slide incorporated into the design for just such a use, so maybe it will work for many different cranium dispositions.

The design folds up to fit into a laptop slot (for charging?) or perhaps your pocket. While it does not specify, it would be nice if the design would lock into a folded position – that could make it more pocket friendly, to say the least.

LG has history of being innovators early on, so I would love to see some of this kind of thinking going into their products going forward.  Why chase the competition (ahem, iPhone) when you can lead the field?
