Chicago Eco-Bridge Could Offer Park Area and Wind Power

Chicago_ecobridgerendering_061108

Originally conceived as part of the Burnham Plan of Chicago in 1909, the Eco-Bridge is being developed by Chicago as an addition to its other green efforts. The two mile bridge would not only connect opposite ends of the city center and Grant Park, it would also provide recreational opportunities, offer splendid views of the city, and calm water for rowing and sailing.

Along with wind turbines generating alternative power and the wonderful park green space, an observation tower would be built for spectacular views. Chicago hopes that the Eco-Bridge would show favorably toward a bid for the 2016 Olympic Games. It would seem that such a project would bring a lot of value for the city and its residents.
