The point and shoot video camera arena, currently no doubt owned by the ubiquitous Flip video camera, is looking to get a bit more crowded. Creative is bringing out the Vado, and it looks like it will be a considerable contender for the market. Styled very similar to the Flip, the Vado sports a small video screen, two GB of memory, and very simple controls. The unit appears to be more rounded than the boxy flip, but the dimensions are similar.
One thing that I do not like as well is the fact that the Vado uses a rechargeable battery pack whereas the Flip uses standard AA batteries. This makes the Flip easier (and cheaper) to pick up spare batteries to carry as well as when out. (Plus you can always get rechargeable AA batteries, but I digress.) The Vado has a street price of $99, and should be available soon.
