FANAWAY, the Transforming Fan Light

fanawayI walk into the Beach house on a warm but pleasant evening, and flip a switch. The smooth hanging lights that are gracing the room suddenly start to rotate, and as they do fan blades swing out from the sides, creating a gentle breeze that accents the weather.

The FANAWAY, invented by Joe Villella, is sure to please both the discerning decorator and the transformer fan.  The stylish round lights house hidden fan blades that extract during motion (thanks to centrifugal force) and suddenly the light transforms to a fan (but without the cool metallic echo sound effect ).

Beacon Lighting plans on carrying the FANAWAY starting mid 2008, and negotiations are underway with distributors for wider availability.

While a cool addition to home and business decor, if you plan on having the fan on most of the time then a standard light/fan might be the better choice.  Unless, of course, you just like showing off home gadgets, in which case mark it as a must buy for your next fan project.
