Greg Chaffins Firefly is a classic show that gave viewers a look at a future western set aboard the space ship Serenity. It was hard not to like the characters, and their adventures were always a fun visit. It is one show that I always felt ended way too soon, and I’m not alone. Thousands of fans have expressed the same sentiment, and fan conventions for the show just keeps growing. But there is some news on the horizon,
Nathan Fillion and the rest of the cast is apparently on board for a new animated series, with the original actors voicing their well known characters. One interesting twist will be to see how they handle Hoban Washburne’s (played by Alan Tudyk) death in the Firefly movie, but this is science fiction so anything is possible.
Unfortunately Ron Glass has since died, but the character of Shepherd Book will be part of the new season. Fillion has reported that they are actively looking for a “Ron Glass” type actor to fill the role, but I’m glad that the character will continue since he added a lot to the ensemble.
The return is slated to coincide with the 25th anniversary o the original show, but release dates are not known at this time.
