The HHD Health program is a nifty little piece of freeware that sits in your system tray, monitoring your hard drives and alerts you if something is askew. The program taps into the Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) built into all new hard disks, and it can predict failures on your drives.
You can find the predictive freebie at Panterasoft. Unfortunately, it only predicts failures with your hard drives, so everything else is just going to have to be a surprise.
