GM offering Reconfigurable Performance Display starting in 2009

The OBD II on-board vehicle diagnostics system on practically all GM vehicles really contains a lot of information, but usually taping into this requires third party tools.  GM is waking up to the fact that performance machines often have performance minded people, and so starting in 2009 GM will offer an optional reconfigurable display that lets you view this available data.

What can you get from the display?  A lot, from engine torque and horsepower to G-Forces pulled in the last maneuver.  But that is not all, since you can also control car features with it, such as enabling/disabling traction control for vehicles so equipped.

The reconfigurable performance display (and control) will be a dealer install option, and will set you back about $295. Availability will vary depending on the vehicle, but hopefully the SS branded group will get it.  Nice, GM, but definitely about time.
