Which is probably for the best.

Your finger disrupts a tiny electrical field, and the phone calculates exactly where that happened.
So when you tap, swipe, or scroll, your phone knows precisely what you’re doing. Which is impressive… and also why it doesn’t work well with gloves.

Smartphones are packed with sensors. Not in a creepy way. In a very helpful, slightly impressive way. They can detect:

- Light levels (ambient light sensor)

It’s constantly aware of what’s happening around it. Which is convenient… and a little unsettling if you think too hard about it.

Your phone is always connected – usually in multiple ways at once. It can communicate through:
