Microsoft Surface Product Now Ready for Preorder.

We have talked about Microsoft's exciting Surface computing platform before, but today you can actually order one, assuming you have $8,400 to dedicate to the cause. Of course, the real name for this particular Surface product isn't just "Surface", but rather the "Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface", and is at this time being targeted towards businesses and corporations. You can preorder the Surface table(t) in one of 23 different countries for an early 2012 delivery.

The unit runs Windows 7 and the Surface 2.0 software, with a 40 inch screen, 1,920 x 1,080 total resolution, and a sweet 50 points of simultaneous touch. No doubt the extra touch tracking can be put to good use to locate and identify such things as hands and fingers, and react accordingly.

But if you are adventurous at heart, you can download the Surface 2.0 SDK for your own experimentation, and perhaps to roll your own. As far as having the table shaped device in a room of the house, I have this to say: sign me up.
