The Nahamer T450, designed by Rob Penny, is a toaster that drops down the toast instead of popping it up. That alone intrigues me with the design, but there is more.
The toaster is 20% faster than regular toasters, and uses half the power of a standard 900w unit. This is possible due to the design, which allows the coils to be brought very close to the bread surface.
Another brilliant aspect of the design is that you can watch the bread getting toasted, and stop it when you find the bread is just right. That beats trying to peer into a slot filled with bread and glowing hot wires.
Of course, there is some bad news – if the toaster design were to catch on, Pop-Tarts would have to change their name to Drop-Tarts.
