Pocket projectors are going to be a hot item in the near future, and now we have one more entry into the market.

Optoma is readying its pocket projector, based on the Texas Instrument DLP Pico chipset, for a 2009 release.

The projector is smaller than typical cell phones, yet it can project an image that is 100 times larger than a typical portable player.

The Optoma projector uses a LED light source so that a bulb will not be an issue. The video below shows the pico projector in action hooked up to an iPod, and it looks pretty sweet.

The product will be in limited release in Europe and Asia in late 2008, with a worldwide launch in 2009.
