Outerspace travel Galactic Suite Project gaining signups

The Galactic Suite Project, which promises an out of this world experience for roughly $4.4 million, is growing its reservation list.  Already there have been thirty eight people signed up to take the rather exclusive vacation.

While the price is steep, the trip includes transport to a Caribbean Island, an eighteen week intensive Astronaut training program, and not to mention four days aboard the outer space suite.  The travel outward will take you about 300 miles from terrafirma, and you are welcome to bring your families to the island for the kickoff.

Aboard the Galactic Suite guests will experience weightlessness, perfect meditation conditions, wonderful views of Planet Earth, and an experience to last a lifetime.  If all the floating about gets old, there will be places aboard that are Velcro lined to make movement or perching for a great view easier. Explains the founder and director of Galactic Suite, Xavier Claramunt,

Tourists come to the hotel with all the necessary items to stay, as if they were staying at the most extreme refuge on earth. This refuge will offer a mixed programme of reflection and exercise to seize the unique physical conditions encountered in space.

The first flights are scheduled for 2012, and the trip getting there is definitely half the fun.  The spacecraft will accelerate 620 mph in less than 20 seconds, separating from the boosters once the speed of sound is reached and gliding from orbit in to the station.

Once in the station, visitors will have the chance to see the Earth as it is orbited from the Suite once every 80 minutes. No doubt you will be able to see a LOT of the home planet, but the view into space would be very inspiring as well.  The spa sounds interesting, with a bubble filled with 20 liters of weightless water where you can dive and play as you wish.  There are also special exercise bikes for their stay available, and the guests can use special cameras that will send back pictures to their families, sharing the experience with them.

Overall, it would be a truly unique experience, so if we have anyone that wants to sponsor a nerd on a trip into space, feel free to contact me.  In the meanwhile, you can find out more at the Galactic Suite website.
