Redfly is a Dumb Terminal Laptop for your Cellphone

A lot of the readers will know what a dumb terminal is, and how it fits into computing.  Well, what if I told you there was a dumb terminal for your cell phone?

The Redfly connects to your rather capable cell phone and serves as a keyboard and larger screen for your device. There is also a mouse control, making navigation easy.  This would greatly improve the telecommuting experience using your pocket device.  Also, if you were to lose the Redfly while it is stored (the cellphone would remain safely in your pocket), there is no important information to be concerned about.

Unfortunately, the price, at $499, makes it completely impractical for the average user, especially when small but capable notebooks are selling for $300 and less.  Drop the price down to $150 or less and you may have a solid product that hits the market nicely.

Until then, I really don’t see it taking off. If you are concerned about data then use an encrypted pocket storage device on any given laptop, and put the storage device in your pocket when you check or store the laptop.  Still, what a cool concept.
