Mother Earth and the green power effort is going to be smiling at Japan, or at least parts of it. The Sakai and the Kansai Electric Power Company is building a pair of alternative energy "mega solar plants" using Sharp solar panels, the output of which will be around 18,000 kW and 10,000 kW.

The renewable energy power plants, expected to be live sometimes in 2011, will decrease CO2 emissions around 10,000 tons per year.  The downside is that it will cost ¥5.0 billion ($46.5 million) to make it happen, but it is definitely an investment for the future.
