Seiko and Epson have a nice goody for near future cell phones – how does a 3D display sound? The joint effort uses a high resolution LCD display coupled with a lenticular lens setup. The resulting display is 3 inches, perfect for mobile use.
Of course, to use the display a special camera must create a 3D capable image, and it can require up to 8 camera images from different angles. But the resulting image works very well with the setup.
The display shown is a prototype, but Seiko is planning on making the technology available to makers in a few years, so a 3D display may soon be as close as your pocket.
