Here on the Beach we utilize solar energy for a lot of things, such as getting a tan, growing fruit, heating the sand to scorching hot temperatures, and even heating shower water. But one thing we have not done directly is to use it to drive miles. Now this could change if the SEV Solar Roof Module lives up to its claims.
The SEV Roof Module installs in a few hours on a typical Toyota Prius hybrid, and consists of the roof mounted 215w solar array and a 3kw supplemental battery pack. No mention of price is made, but SEV claims that it will pay for itself in 2 to 3 years of normal driving (i.e. not cheap). You can find more information about the roof module here.
