Your collection of DVDs are no longer the cutting edge technology they once were. With the introduction of Blu-ray DVDs, hitting video at 1080p, the original DVD is really starting to show its age. But if you have a decent DVD collection it may be cost prohibitive to replace your entire collection.
That is where an upconverting DVD player can fit into your setup. An upconverting DVD player can take your standard DVD (at 480 resolution) and convert it on the fly to 1080. In the past the upconverters went to 1080i, but Sony has introduced the DVP-NS708H, which can upconvert to a full 1080p.
While the converted output will not compete with true 1080 from a Blu-ray disc, it will look better than the standard DVD output. With the one product your entire DVD collection just got better.
