Boy Genius Reports somehow got their hands on a Sony Ericsson X1, and they give us the preview of an upcoming review. Sporting a 800×400 screen, optical joystick, and HSDPA data capability, the X1 will prove to be a real handy tool to have. From what I can tell, the unit's only real weak spot is the keyboard, but it seems to be on par with other sliding keyboards out now. BGR sums up the phone,
You really couldn’t throw better specs on this thing if you tried. From your local flavor of UMTS/HSDPA, to an optical joystick (fire!), to a whopping 800×480 VGA screen, and even cool funky notification lights, this thing is packed! Let’s not forget the physical design of the device as it’s one of the coolest and hippest-looking phones we’ve seen in a very long time.
It will be interesting to see how well the phone lands on the market, but already people have been saying that this is the phone they are waiting for. The current ad (video after the jump) shows an upbeat attitude towards the phone and it marketing, something that will help it no doubt hit its target. [more]
