Wireless Water Proof Submersible Speaker is at Home in the Pool

SubSpeaker2

Summertime, the time for water and music.  Unfortunately, mixing these two critical elements of sun frolicking sometimes ends up in disaster.  But now there is a solution that makes it downright fun.

The Weatherproof Submersible Speaker features a ball shaped speaker that is at home in the water, certified International Weather Proofing Standards (Level 1PX7), for submersion up to nine feet deep for 30 minutes. This means you can take the speaker in the water with you, even under the water and pass it around.  Your music source sits safely on the transmitter up to 150 ft away, and with a single transmitter you can have up to 10 submersible speakers. The speakers will last up to 6 hours on 6 AA batteries, and each unit also features 4 flashing LEDs to help find them during night time dips.

The Weatherproof Submersible Speaker with transmitter  is available from Neiman Marcus for $149.99. Additional speakers are $99.99, but you must have at least one transmitter to make them work.  Not bad for a new fun way to safely mix water and music this summer.

IOGear GearJuice for Mobile Mini USB Power Backup

iogearjuice2

Having mobile power for your gear while on the road is important, and IOGear has made that task a bit easier with the recent introduction of their GearJuice Rescue Charger. The unit is powered by a single AA battery, and can power most devices that use a mini USB connection for an additional 15 minutes – perfect way to get quick PDA or phone power while on the go.  The GearJuice Rescue Charger retails for $12.

Versatile Reebok NXT Speaker Backpack

Reebok_NXT_Speaker_BackpackThe collective masses have definitely developed a love affair for portable media devices, and often it is handy to hook up said portable media device with external speakers. Of course, external speakers tend to have a requirement to be carried, so they are not always handy to have around.

The Reebok NXT Speaker Backpack (£70)   simplifies this requirement by incorporating speakers into a black backpack, which allows you to carry the speaker and the rest of your gear together. (Of course, you could carry any speaker system inside of a standard backpack with your gear, but it would not look as cool). The speakers are powered by a couple of AA batteries, so don't expect a super subwoofer, but it should deliver an adequate sound for most listening applications.  Connections are made by a standard 3.5 mm audio plug, so most things, including mp3 players, portable DVD players, and laptops, should have no problem hooking up to the speakers. Just don't forget the AA batteries.

Creative Vado is a Contender for Point and Shoot Video Market

vado

The point and shoot video camera arena, currently no doubt owned by the ubiquitous Flip video camera, is looking to get a bit more crowded. Creative is bringing out the Vado, and it looks like it will be a considerable contender for the market.  Styled very similar to the Flip, the Vado sports a small video screen, two GB of memory, and very simple controls. The unit appears to be more rounded than the boxy flip, but the dimensions are similar.

One thing that I do not like as well is the fact that the Vado uses a rechargeable battery pack whereas the Flip uses standard AA batteries.  This makes the Flip easier (and cheaper) to pick up spare batteries to carry as well as when out. (Plus you can always get rechargeable AA batteries, but I digress.) The Vado has a street price of $99, and should be available soon.
