Shampoo Bottle MP3 Player for Shower Tunes

Having a waterproof mp3 player that you can take in the shower makes sense, especially if you like to get your tunes on  and/or sing in the shower.  Having an mp3 player shaped like a shampoo bottle doesn't make quite so much sense.   After all, that pretty much guarantees that you will not be using it anywhere else but in the shower.

The player itself is actually not so bad, and features an auto scan FM radio, built in speaker (since headphones in a shower would not work so well), built in rope that houses an antenna, and available in different colors.  The power source is 2 AAA batteries, and you can find more info at Alibaba.

OF course, now this brings up the question – what shape will new mp3 players be taking in the not too distant future?  Toast mp3 players so you can jam as you spread your, well,  jam?  TV remote mp3 player so you can listen in between channel changes ( Short attention span interludes) ?  How about a sponge MP3 player so you can listen as you wash your car.  The possibilities are endless, if not somewhat gaudy.

Darth Vader Rules MP3 Player

We can't help, we like the Darth Vader MP3 player.   The player is definitely from the dark side of the force, with its limited memory (512MB) and hard to read display.  But then what would you expect from Darth Vader – he is evil, you know.

Update – it looks like the Rebels were able to sneak an FM radio onboard before being detected.  Unfortunately their home planet has been blasted to space dust by the Deathstar, but the radio has managed to stay as part of the player.

The Star Wars MP3 player sells for around $80.  Now, buy this MP3 player or you will feel a choking sensation.

The unit also features an FM tuner, recording capabilities, DMB, Flash 2.0 support, a Text Viewer, and an e-Dictionary.

The Spinn is available in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB version.  The screen is nice at 3.2 inches, and it has Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. The Spinn is reportedly capable of displaying MPEG4 video at a constant 30 frames per second.

No word yet on Spinn pricing, but it should be available around August of this year.

Thanko Releases Solar Charging Portable Media Player

solarplayerJapanese maker Thanko has started selling their solar charged media player, a device that incorporates its own solar panels in the design.

The Solar MP4 supports MP3/WMA/WAV audio and AVI/RM/MPG/VOB/DAT/RMVB video files, and it also serves as a voice recorder and a FM radio. The unit has a 2 inch TFT display and 4gb of memory, and it supports micro sd cards.

The charging rate for the player is rated at one hour charge for 35 minutes music or 15 minutes of video. No doubt that is under direct sun, but it does make it practical.  These type of devices will  no doubt really mature when the charge gains on the use (i.e. 30 minutes of charge will give you 40 minutes of play, etc.), but for a first generation using current technology this is not bad.
