Richard Branson Will Be Aboard 2013’s Inaugural Space Tourism Flight

Virgin Galactic’s first space tourism flight is set to take place next year, and it is scheduled to have some interesting passengers – none other than main chief Richard Branson and his two adult children. Now that is how you sell space tourism.

Not that a lot of selling is going to be required for the space upstart. Already 529 people have booked a flight, no small number when you consider the ticket price is $200,000. You can sign up on the company website, and sooner than later might be a good idea if you plan on going any time soon.

Of course, if Virgin Galactic is looking for any blogging nerds to go on a journalistic trip, well, they have to look no farther than NerdBeach…

Virgin Galactic

Virgin Galactic is a company within Richard Branson’s Virgin Group which plans to provide sub-orbital spaceflights to space tourists, suborbital launches for space science missions and orbital launches of small satellites. Further in the future Virgin Galactic hopes to offer orbital human spaceflights as well. Virgin Galactic’s spacecraft are launched from a large aeroplane, giving the spacecraft more initial speed and altitude than if it were launched from the ground.
