Twist Camera Winds Up for the Snap

A notable entry into the Greener Gadgets Design Competition 2008 is the Twist Camera, a digital camera that never runs out of power on a trip.

Designed by John Rothapfel from Australia, the alternative energy Twist Camera is powered by winding up the end of the camera, and one wind up would provide power for several pictures.  The camera is designed to be extremely easy to use, with only a button, a status light, and a place to look through to point the camera. It definitely falls into the popular "point and shoot" category.

Once you get back from the trip, the end cap comes off, exposing a common USB interface. Plug it into your favorite computer and upload the pictures to do with as you normally would.

Personally I like the concept, and never being out of power with a digital camera is a big plus(stops those pesky UFO landings when you run out of battery power in a camera). The name is a winner as well, just imagine the marketing campaigns. For example, Twist and Shoot ala  "Twist and Shout".
