Virtual Reality Added To New Revolution Ride At Six Flags

image

Fans of roller coasters may get an extra virtual reality thrill injection at Six Flags soon. This would have to be like those Motion Theater rides pumped up to the nth degree. Just imagine combing the immersive visual element with real world, feel it in the gut g-forces and the thrill knowing that at least part of it is very real. This could be a thrill seekers treat, all within a relatively safe framework.

The plans are for riders on Six Flag’s New Revolution coaster to have optional access to free VR helmet gear. Each helmet connects via Bluetooth to the ride for custom visualizations tailored for each seat on the ride. This means that no longer would the front or back of the ride offer a different experience from the middle, since all experience the same g-forces. And before you ask, each helmet is cleaned before being put back into service.

I hope the plans continue, because this kind of experience could really open up new areas of thrill entertainment. But I do have to wonder how many helmets would be lost during the first month’s run.
