Wind charging toy car bypasses the battery and power source needs

Hot topics for the adults tend to be filtered down to the children, and given who does the purchasing this makes sense.  But sometimes this works out to a logical end, and that is where the Loopwing Wind Power Generator Set from Tamiya comes in.

The small racer mounts on a high efficient wind turbine, charging it for the next run. The blades on the turbine are geared to allow a very small breeze to pick up a charge.  And if there is no wind whatsoever the turbine can be held and the children generate their own wind by running or spinning around (as well as blowing on it until they turn blue and pass out, but that would probably only happen a couple of times before it was avoided).

The racer will run for about 5 to 10 minutes for one or two minutes of charge time, so there is a good ratio to charging and playing.  The racer is a kit, so it is recommended for age 15 or older, unless you build it first and then present it as a gift.  The Loopwing Wind Power Generator Set from Tamiya costs $67, and it should be back in stock in most places soon (yeah, we checked while writing this).
