You Can Have Your Own Wall-E

Even on the Beach we know that Wall-E is going to be a big hit, and the merchandising is sure to follow.  But this is really kinda cool, a robot from the movie that is a toy robot in real life.  The affordable WowWee Wall-E utilizes 10 motors for all important things like movement, has a remote control, and allows simple programming. Wall-E even has sensors for obstacle, sound and touch detection.  Wow, I think I could put him to work here pounding the surfline.

Shape Shifting Robots That Reassemble Themselves

Imagine a day when we have robots that are comprised of smaller robotic pieces, and when you knock them apart they regroup and continue functioning.  Well, that day is now, as the video shows.   The ideal is to build a robot that is not in any particular shape, making it well suited to a variety of different tasks.  It seems a bit Termintor -esque, but the foundations for such technology is being laid today.  I just hope that it is a while before the T-1000 comes strolling down the Beach.
