Docomo has introduced Firmo, a device that allows the human body to act as a communications line. Basically it is a card carried by the user, and when contact is made with a wired object the data transfer begins.
All kinds of data can be transferred this way, from media and data files to security mechanisms that, for example, open a door when you touch the handle. I wonder if the system could be modified to allow transfer of information between individuals. A handshake could give the user an electronic business card, for example. It might be a while before such technology is commonplace, but the Firmo system should be available commercially in June for 800,000 yen ($7,780).
