40k Leatherman Is Indeed an Opulent Pocketknife

If MacGuyver had more money than sense, then I think he would find the $40,000 Leatherman a handy device to have on hand. But in such a scenario MacGuyver would probably find a gold plated paper clip to be invaluable as well.

The Leatherman 25th Anniversary Argentum collection is no doubt more for show than go, but despite being decked out to the max they are still functional gear.  The knives are the work of Argentinean artist Adrian Pollarols, and the price ranges from the ever so modest (?) $12,000 Acanto to the definitely pricey $40,000 Dorado.

Of course, traveling with such possessions could present a problem (checking a $40,000 item?), but chances are the buyers of such items do not travel on the public transit systems.  So, if you happen to find one on a bus seat it is probably not the real thing.  Sorry, hated to tell you that.
