Amusement Park Bumper Cars made Street Legal

A lot of us have memories of riding bumper cars from a local amusement park or traveling fair. I remember fondly riding such cars in my younger years at Camden Park, an amusement park my family would visit on occasion. Now, while riding I would often imagine driving the bumper car right out of the driving area onto the road and on to new places.

Well, of course that would never work, since those bumper cars picked up their power from the ceiling via an electrical pickup. But I am proud to say that I was not the only one that had that ideal.  Apparently it is becoming a bit of a trend to take those older carnival rides and making them street legal. And I love it.

The street rod conversions typically use a Kawasaki 750cc motorcycle engine, which lets them get up to decent speeds.  The price for the fun hot rods are painful at $50,000, but at least it does insure that you will not be falling into old habits and bumping other vehicles. Hopefully.
