High Definition Radio (HDR) has not exactly taken off as well as some would like to see it, and one of the reasons could be the relatively high cost of the players. Coby is challenging that theory with a sub-$100 HDR player.
The $99 Coby HDR-650 is a basic HDR player without internal speaker. It is designed to be used with a home audio system, and sports component audio outputs. An LCD display shows the station and extra information.
Coby also offers the bigger and more featured HDR-700 for $150, which has an internal speaker for direct listening, a SD card slot for playing existing media, rechargeable battery for five hours use, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for private listening.
The Coby HDRs should appear sometimes in August.
