Firefox Internet Touch Tablet Aiming for Two Hundred Dollar Price

Would you be willing to pay $200 for an Internet touch tablet?  Michael Arrington, of TechCrunch, thinks so, and he is doing what he can to get it developed.

The design calls for one physical button (on/off), and would run a modified Firefox browser over WiFi.  The unit would rely on half a gig of RAM and a 4GB Solid State Drive (SSD) for some of its internal mechanics.  Arrington has already started working with a supply chain company to build the machine, and is currently asking for help to write the code for the new device.

Arrington sees the tablet appliance as a joint effort with the users, and he will give a tablet to anyone that helps with its development.  Once complete , he will open source the design so that anyone can build a unit.

While it is a unique approach to such a device, if it succeeds the tablet could become ubiquitous, accepted as the de facto standard in such an appliance. I certainly would like to see it take off, and yes I would buy one. Quickly, for that price.
