World’s Largest Horn Subwoofer Makes Impressive Home Theater

World's largest subwoofer

Most people know that a quality subwoofer can shake a whole room. But audio designer Roberto Dell Curti has built a subwoofer that does not shake just the room. Rather, the room is part of the horn subwoofer, and no doubt it can shake the whole house.  Underneath his impressive home theater setup, the ground has been excavated and in its place, two horn channels 21 feet long running 3 feet deep give a home to the beast labeled the Real Total Horn. Each channel is powered by eight 18 inch woofers, giving a total of 16 woofers that are pumping thousands of watts of energy into the massive sound chambers.

Is it effective? Well, the biggest horn sub in the world can hit lows down to 10Hz, and create a virtual wave of sound energy while doing it.  And if at some point we read that Italy has broken off from the mainland and floated away, I think we might know the reason why.

Agreement Allows Xbox 360 to Stream Netflix Movies

Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game console has stepped its streaming video game up in a deal made with Netflix.  Microsoft announced the agreement at the 2008 E3 Media and Business Summit in Los Angeles.

This agreement gives Netflix's 8 million subscribers another method to watch their streaming services, and complements nicely with their recent startup agreement with the Roku standalone player.  The deal should give Xbox subscribers access to over 10,000 movies and TV shows without the extra requirement of a computer, although membership in both Xbox Live and Netflix will probably be required.

The Xbox 360 Fall update is expected to provide the added functionality.

Classic UFO Pictures: 1942 Battle of Los Angeles

February 25, 1942 Los Angeles, CA A blackout is declared and the residents, fearful of a Japanese raid, turn off the lights as  alarms sound. Anti-aircraft guns puncture the sky in an attempt to hit unidentified objects coming in form over the ocean, and large beams are scanning the sky in search of attackers. Witness report red or silver colored small objects moving at a high altitude in formation. The objects were moving fast, and they were unharmed by the Anti Aircraft pounding. The large object in the picture was reported to be unhurt by the military’s salvos. This photograph is also known as the “Battle of Los Angeles”. (photo: United States Military)
