How black is black? By some definitions, black is the absence of light, so it is hard to categorize. But a product known as Vantablack claims to be one of the blackest substances you can find.
The name “Vanta” comes from its construction, Vertically Aligned NanoTube Arrays, and that pretty much describes it. A small forest of vertically aligned nanotubes trap photons, and eventually they stop bouncing around and turn to heat. The result – 99.965% of the light never escapes, creating, you guessed it, black.
