Dubai Set to Build Rotating Tower Building

Dubai_TwistingTower_070808

Dubai is definitely impressing the world with its architecture.  There we have the world's tallest building, and the world's largest fountain as well.  Now it seems we will be able to find the world's most dynamic building there in the near future. A Dynamic Architecture building, designed by David Fisher, will begin construction  in Dubai in the the next six months.  The building's name, Rotating Tower, describes it perfectly well.

The floors on the building will be constantly (but hopefully very slowly) rotating around a central axis, giving the residents a continually shifting view.  Not only does this make it very interesting as far as aesthetics go, the independent motion makes the building highly resistant to earthquakes.  With the different shapes to the side of the building, having the floors at different points in their rotation will give the building a constantly shifting shape against the skyline.

There are talks going on with the city of Chicago for future construction of a similar Rotating Tower, but so far nothing has been determined.
