The power of movies to let us escape for a couple hours into another world is magical. But where would we be without the art of the visual special effect, which lets us experience the fantastic, the amazing, and the believable. Over the years the Oscars have awarded these triumphs in the visual canvas, and this video has them all (as of this writing).
As you watch, you can see the mastery grow as technology improves the art. And while the VFX gets better, there are some exceptions where the art of the story, coupled with the effects, withstand the test of time. And that is probably the greatest magic of all.
