Amphibious PC Designed for IN Pool Use

amphibious_pc_062308

Who said computer users never get a tan?  The Amphibious PC can allow you to do that and more, since it is the first PC designed to be used In a pool.  The concept device is a waterproof PC designed to attach to a float for pool use.

Now you can check your email, browse the web, and possibly even do some work while happily bobbing around. You can also watch a movie and listen to tunes as you float.  The Amphibious PC features include a GPRS receiver, Bluetooth, finger-touch input, a solar power driven processor, and a water-cooling system (since having fans will not work so well with the waterproof design).

You can even search the web for "How to Swim", in case the need arises.

More information on the Amphibious PC concept can be found at the Next Gen Design Competition, of which this is an entry.

Hp tx2500z Tablet Computer Released

hp_pavilion_tx2500z_061308

HP has released a new tablet PC, the tx2500z. The 4.59 pound tablet boasts a 12.1 inch 1,280x 800 touch screen.  Other features include an AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM processor, powerful ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics, memory configurations up to 4GB DDR2 RAM, a roomy 320GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g WiFi (optional  a/b/g/), and a DVD burner.  Optional items include Bluetooth and a fingerprint scanner.

I personally have an old HP TC1100 Tablet PC that I use more or less daily, and I refuse to part with it until something better (in my opinion) comes along. Since HP has dropped that form factor in favor of the heavier full laptop tablet versions I guess I will be holding on to it a bit longer.  However, I can see how this type of tablet would be handy for those who want only occasional use from the tablet functionality.

The base price for the tablet is $1049, after the current $99 instant savings being offered.
