Designer Francesco Sommacal has something for the extreme crowd, and it borrows from the skateboarding crowd. Winner of the 2007 Volvo Sportdesign Concept Award, the no doubt suitably named 360 is like an inline skateboard, but the rider's feet go into the middle of the wheel. This positioning within the axis of rotation gives the rider a great deal more control than is normally possible with extreme gear.
Also, the 360, with its large tires, can go places that the typical skateboard can't, such as over rocky terrain and gravel. The 360 can be customized for the rider, with the middle steel chassis being changeable for longer or shorter distance between the wheels.
