Veteran Japanese explorer to spend next two months gathering Yeti proof

With all of the excitement over the recent claimed finding of Bigfoot in Northern Georgia, it seems that another big hairy creature is getting a little attention.  A team of Japanese explorers hope to spend the next two months getting irrefutable video proof of the legendary Yeti.  The 7 member crew will establish a base camp in the Dhaulagiri mountains in Nepal.  The camp will be at an elevation of 14,000 ft, where they will set up automated infrared cameras along a ridge.  The team will then spend the next six weeks monitoring the high tech equipment for signs of our favorite abominable snowman.

The team is being led by veteran Yeti hunter and mountaineer Yoshiteru Takahashi, and this marks his  third attempt to find the mysterious creature.  His connection with the yeti started in 1971, when fellow climbers reported seeing a mysterious creature about 5 ft tall and covered in gray fur.  In 1994 Takahashi returned to search again, but all they found was  small human like footprints in a small cave that had a strong animal scent.  In 2003, the second expedition yielded more footprints and silhouettes of humanoid creatures taken from a distance.  Takahashi described the 2003 sighting as,

Three dark silhouettes were observed at 12:25 PM on September 27, 2003 on the southeast ridge of Gurja Himal.  They looked almost human and walked upright on two legs.

As for the latest expedition planned to depart on August 16, the 65 year old Takahashi is very upbeat about the effort.  He says,

We are confident we can prove its existence this time, and once we do, we can start working to protect it.
