WaSnake is the Web Connected Shelf

wasnake1

Interestingly enough, here we have a new category that I am sure we will be seeing more of – the Web Connected Shelf.  The WaSnake consists of four rectangular base units that are connected by flexible joints, allowing you to vary the height and location of each shelf piece. Each display can be set to a different source, such as RSS feeds, chat messages, and SMS messages sent to the home address. A computer is hooked to the display in order to create the desired communications channels.  The shelf is designed by Louis Frechin and was recently shown at the International Milan furniture show.

As technology progresses will will not doubt find many more parts of the typical home that is hooked into information streams of one type or the other. I am sure that popular culture will decide that it is a fine line between useful information and "Informationally  Gaudy" (Maybe that will be a new phrase). Now, you must excuse me, my doorframe is flashing.
