Styrofoam Robot Art Towers Over Human Onlookers

Salter-Styrobots_070308

Michael Salter, an associate professor of digital arts at the University of Oregon, has developed Styrofoam into an art form.  His latest creation is a 22 foot tall robot that towers over the human onlookers.  The smaller robots, an art to themselves, are in place to keep the curious from toppling the art behemoth.

Interesting to note, Slater’s pieces are not sold, and are often destroyed at the end of a showing.  A fitting tribute for cool robotic art made from packing material, perhaps?
