Sanyo PLC-XL51 Projector Requires Only Three Inches Distance from Wall

sanyoxl51_061808

One of the biggest problems with projectors is not the technology, but rather the distance from the wall (the throw distance) required to make a big picture. Sanyo has not only addressed that issue, it has knocked it out of the park,  with their PLC-XL51.  The projector requires only a 3 inch throw to create an eighty inch display. Yes, three inches.

The projector features 1024×768 resolution, 2,700 lumens of brightness goodness, SD card support, and a PJ Network Interface that allows remote control via a web browser.

The PLC-XL51 incorporates a large aspheric lens and high-precision aspheric mirror to magnify images without distorting them.  Top and bottom keystone correction handles issues associated with the short throw and wall alignment, and finally included software can correct color for projection onto non-white surfaces.

The impressive PLC-XL51 is slated to be available this September, at a hefty price of $3,995.

Fujitsu F706i is a Waterproof Cell Phone with 1 seg TV Tuner

nec_f706i_060308

The majority of us now carry cell phones, and the majority of the Earth is covered with water. Now, putting those two facts together, it would lead me to this conclusion – having a waterproof cell phone would make sense. Here at the Beach it makes excellent sense.

The Fujitsu F706i Cell phone is indeed waterproof (down to 3 meters), and it has a 1 seg mobile TV tuner as well. This means that you can watch TV underwater, if so desired (and you know you want to, at least once). The F706i also offers a 2 mp camera (another great feature to use underwater),HSDPA connectivity, and a micro SD slot. Oh, and it also works as a phone.

Earth Trek 90-850R Mini Projector is Self Contained Mini-Theater

MiniProjector002

We have recently discussed a Mini Projector coming out recently, and just to whet the appetite we have another diminutive projector to talk about.  Earth Trek, a company based in Hong Kong, is releasing the 90-805R mini projector.

The specs on this unit look pretty good, with a SD card slot and a lithium battery that is supposed to give about 1-2 hours runtime. The projection capability is rated for 22 inches (diagonal), and it measures only 105x58x25mm.  The mini projector is not bad on weight either, coming in at 160g.

As with other small projectors coming out the 90-850R is also capable of playing MP4s that are stored on a memory card. Since it has a built in speaker you only need to carry the unit (with memory card inserted, of course) to have a mini-theater.
