Driving along a new piece of road, it is very easy to overlook a speed limit sign. You could remain blissfully unaware of the new speed limit until it was too late. Vauxhall Motors, a British subsidiary of General Motors, has a solution. They have developed a camera that can actually read a speed limit sign on the road and post the latest speed limit on the dash for you.
The system grabs 30 pictures a second and processes it via image recognition software. The system is not just a concept, since it will debut in Vauxhall’s 2010 Insignia sedan. Of course, deciding to actually slow down is still left up to the driver.
